چکیده
In-situ TiB2/AlSi10Mg composites were prepared by casting, gas atomization, and selective laser melting (SLM), respectively. Microstructural evolution of the in as-cast, atomized, SLMed investigated. Ti-6Al-4V triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures with biomorphics scaffold designs are expected to be the most promising candidates for many biological applications such as bone implants. Fracture is the main failure mode of Ti-6Al-4V cellular structures at room temperature. However, there is currently less investigation on general analysis about the fracture mechanism of Ti-6Al-4V T...
متن کاملMechanical Properties and Microstructural Evolution of Ta/TaNx Double Layer Thin Films Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering
Crystalline tantalum thin films of about 500nm thickness were deposited on AISI 316L stainless steel substrate using magnetron sputtering. To investigate the nano-mechanical properties of tantalum films, deposition was performed at two temperatures (25°C and 200°C) on TaNx intermediate layer with different N2/Ar flow rate ratio from 0 to 30%. Nano-indentation was performed to obtain the mechani...
متن کاملMicrostructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Ultrafine/nano Structured AISI 321 Stainless Steel Produced by Thermo-mechanical Processing
The mechanical properties and microstructural developments of 321 stainless steel during thermomechanical process were investigated. The repetitive cold rolling and subsequent annealing were conducted to achieve nanocrystalline structure in an AISI 321 stainless steel. Heavily cold rolling at −20°C was conducted to form martensite in metastable austenitic steel. The process was followed by anne...

This chapter begins with an introduction of the fundamental properties of Ti-6Al-4V, and its densification mechanism, typical microstructure and mechanical property achievable by conventional PM routes. This functions as a point of reference for the following discussion of the AM Ti-6Al-4V in terms of densification, microstructure, and mechanical property. The mostly popular laser-based AM tech...
